Margaret D. Carter, age 80, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems in Pulaski, just four days shy of her 81 st birthday.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Daisy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 26, 1938 in Maury County, Margaret was the daughter of the late Marvin E. Davidson and the late Frances Dark Davidson. She worked as an office manager for Vocational Rehabilitation for many years before retiring in the early 1990s. After retirement, she worked as an outpatient registrar at Maury Regional Medical Center. Margaret was a member of Pleasant Heights Baptist Church. She loved to cook, enjoyed watching birds, and always had a joke to tell. Margaret loved her family, especially her grandkids who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Chewning and special friend, Susan Tidwell, of Pulaski; brother: Samuel E. Davidson of Columbia; grandchildren: Carson Chewning and Bennett Chewning; special “adopted” grandchildren and great grandchildren: Samantha Tidwell, Reed Tidwell, Casey (Jimmy) Bessinger, Vera Jo Bessinger and Morgan Bessinger; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Anthony “Tony” Carter.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Davidson, Chris England, Marvin Bailey, Arch Warren, David Wakefield, and Don Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House: 2144 Fairfax Ave., Nashville, TN 37212.
