Marilyn Joyce Bartlett, age 92, a resident of Columbia, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at her residence.
Marilyn was born on December 13, 1930, in Peoria, Illinois, and was the daughter of the late Ora Elmer Lowe and the late Esther Ziemer Lowe. On May 6, 1950, she married Franklin Bartlett, her beloved husband, who preceded her in death in December of 2000. Marilyn's dedication as a homemaker was matched only by her love for gardening. She possessed a green thumb and found joy in tending to her beautiful flowers. She loved to sing and shared her talents at festivals, nursing homes, and many other places. Above all, Marilyn was a woman of unwavering faith, a stalwart Christian who served as a Sunday School teacher for thirty years and eagerly participated in Bible studies and church-related activities. Her life was a testament to her devotion to her family, and her absence will leave a profound void in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Marilyn’s memory will be cherished for generations to come.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Vicki (John) Bair of Columbia, TN, and Frankie Jane (Tony) Ren of Thompson Station, TN; her sisters, Ruth Esther Slayton of Memphis, MO, and Jane A. Millard of Peoria, IL; her grandchildren, Jeff Bair, Mike Bair, Patrick Ren, James Ren; and her three great-grandchildren, Cameron Bair, Carter Bair, and Garrett Wolf.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Lou Bartlett; her brothers, Dean Lowe and Wayne Lowe; and her half-sister, Hazel Harding.
The family has chosen to remember Marilyn in a private manner, and there are no public services scheduled at this time. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
