Marjorie Mai Haywood

Angels came and carried Marjorie Mai Dale Haywood into the arms of Jesus in the early morning hours on Monday, April 3, 2023. She was a loving lifelong housewife and mother. She was a resident of the Mt. Joy, Tennessee Community and a member of Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over seventy years.

Marjorie was born on June 5, 1934, in Maury County and the daughter of the late George Clinton Dale and the late Flossie Lamar Dale. She is survived by her husband, Preston Odell Haywood whom she married on July 12, 1952. She is also survived by her siblings, Carlton Dale of Columbia, TN, Jerry Neal (Nancy) Dale of Chapel Hill, children, Sandra (Gene) Matthews of Culleoka, TN, Jimmy (Brenda) Haywood of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Linda (Kenny) Norman of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Joyce (Mike) Yearby of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Roger Haywood of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Gail (James) Kelley of Killen, AL, Tammie (Steve) Cross of Christiana, TN, grandchildren, Robbie Matthews, Jim Matthews, Matt Matthews, Joshua Haywood, Amy Haywood, April Norman, Ken Norman, Kendall Jacobs, Beau Yearby, Tiffany Crews, and Lora Rodgers, nineteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild with one on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Dale, and sisters, Katherine Duncan, Frances Jones, and Mildred Hill.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Mark King officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Haywood, Bobby Haywood, Darrell Haywood, Sam Haywood, Leon Ballinger, Kenneth Ballinger, Billy Grimes, Eddie Hill and Thomas Dale. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
