Marsha Anne Callane Staples

Marsha Anne Callane Staples, age 81, a resident of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at NHC Oakwood.

Born on March 22, 1941, in New Waverly, Indiana, Marsha was the daughter of the late Kenneth L. Callane and the late Lucile Campbell Callane. She graduated in 1962 from Manchester College as Secretary of her class with a master’s degree in Elementary Education. She taught third grade Reading at Carroll County Schools. She married Lawrence C. Staples on March 4, 1975, in Coffee County, Tennessee. She later moved to Tennessee in 1982 to manage a home for mentally disabled senior citizens until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of the National Honor Society and American Mensa. She enjoyed spending time with family, hunting, fishing, crocheting, cooking, singing gospel hymns, and spreading the word of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence C. Staples, and brother, Kenneth D. Callane.

Survivors include her son, John F. Lewis (Melissa) McCracken of Michigan, daughter Valerie (David) Ward of Lewisburg, TN, special daughter, Janet Willoughby of Indiana, grandchildren, Karen McCracken (Arnold) Hernandez, Trace (Tyra) Willoughby, Heather Willoughby (Troy) Bermes all of Indiana, Holly McCracken (Jake) Jenson of Kentucky, Lane McCracken, Rachel Ward (Dalton) Tilghman, Allison Sheroski (Chase) Karaczewski, Sean (Skylaur) Poarch, Laken Ward, Carmen Ward, Emma Ward, and Dravin West all of Tennessee. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Adrian, Jaxon, Veda, Avery, Lillian, Ellie-Mae, Emberleigh, Maddison, Troy, Jr., Isabelle, Tayveon, Trenton, Talia, Asher, Zoey, Gemma, and Collyn.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later time. Those who wish to remember Marsha in a special way may make gifts in her memory to any of her remaining family.

Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN is assisting the family with arrangements.
