Marthene Anderson Lease

Marthene Anderson Lease, age 76, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on February 3, 1945, in Maury County, Marthene was the daughter of the late Mahlon Duncan and the late Helon Norman Duncan. She was a 1963 graduate of Columbia Central High School and worked many years as the cafeteria manager for Whitthorne Middle School. She later worked in accounting for the Maury County Board of Education before retiring in 2007.  Marthene enjoyed canning and loved sitting on her back porch watching birds and wildlife. She was a friendly, caring, and kindhearted person who loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons: Stacey (Beth) Anderson of Columbia, Bart (Renee) Anderson of Columbia, brother, Jimmy (Gayle) Duncan of Columbia, two precious grandchildren, Morgan Anderson, Lincoln Anderson, nieces, Jennifer Duncan and Stephanie Mayberry, special friend, Oscar Bradford, and aunt, Alene Norman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Anderson, second husband, Doug Lease, and uncle, Jerry Norman.

Pallbearers will be Stacey Anderson, Bart Anderson, Scott Holcomb, Lester Finley, Shane Andrews, and Eric Sisk. Honorary pallbearers will include her friends at TDR Country.
