Marty Briggs Kindred, Jr.

February 15, 1972 - September 11, 2019

Marty Briggs Kindred, Jr., age 47, a resident of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 11, 2019 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Greg Wilt, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Kindred Family Bee Farm in Giles County. The family will visit with friends on Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marty was born on February 15, 1972 in Columbia and was the son of Marty Kindred, Sr. and the late Marilyn Stanford Brock. He dated Lori Wilt in high school and later they got engaged. Unfortunately, they each got cold feet and went their separate ways. Life eventually circled back around and twenty-five years later they married on June 13, 2015. Marty previously worked at the bowling alley and as a bouncer at Rumors. Most recently he worked in construction. He was known as “Superman” and some of his hobbies included singing karaoke, tinkering with cars, grilling steaks and burgers, and watching the Tennessee Titans. He was a Mustang fanatic. He was a very family-oriented man who loved his kids and treated them all the same. Well known around Columbia, Marty never met a stranger. If he loved or cared for you, you knew it. He was always there if you needed him. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Lori Wilt Kindred of Columbia; father: Marty (Ellen) Kindred of Giles County; step father: John Brock of Theta; sons: Zachary Kindred and Jackson Jones; daughters: Marleigh Ann Kindred and Aidan Nicole Brown; brothers: William Kindred, Patrick Kindred, and Barry Kindred; step brothers: Justin Williamson, Richard Williamson, and Mike (Kira) Futral; sisters: Jelena (Larry) Smithson and Melinda (Justin) Watson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Oden, Jeremy Hanback, John Copeland, William Kindred, Patrick Kindred, and Barry Kindred. Honorary pallbearers will be: Randy Lovett, Jimmy Daniels, Derrick Potts, Justin Watson, Larry Smithson, Zachary Kindred, Jackson Jones, and Aidan Brown.
