Mr. Marvin Clifton Cox. Jr., age 72, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at his home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Joel Love and Ricky Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on January 16, 1949, in Williamson County, Marvin was the son of Athaleen Beard Cox and the late Marvin Cox, Sr. He was a graduate of Columbia Central High School and previously worked for Union Carbide for many years. He was a Constable for thirty-four years and a reserve deputy and correction officer. Marvin was a member of the Civil Defense and Maury County CB Club. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and loved cheering on the Atlanta Braves, Tennessee Vols, and Tennessee Titans. Marvin was a member of Scribners Mill Church of Christ.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Bobby Cox of Columbia, daughter, Samantha (Matthew) Howington of Columbia, and grandson, Oliver Howington.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Jo Cox in September 2020.
Pallbearers will be David Edmiston, Josh Howell, Jack Norman, Matt Howington, Nick Austin, and Jonathan Thomason. Honorary pallbearers will include Tennessee Constables Association, Maury County Constables, members of the FOP, and members of Scribners Mill Church of Christ.
