Residing in Lynnville, TN Marvin was born on November 7, 1935, to Ben and Emnaline Kay, in Stephens County, Georgia. He married the love of his life, Patricia Kay, on May 28, 1954. Married for 65 years, they were a living example of true love. Retired from Tugalo Construction in Toccoa, Ga, Marvin was a tinkerer who loved working with his hands. Even after retirement, he could often be found shelling walnuts in his shop, mowing his (or someone else's) lawn, or helping someone fix a vehicle or repair a house. He loved people, especially children and every fall he started growing his beard so he could play Santa for Lynnville United Methodist Church's Christmas party. Marvin was a humble man of few words. He listened far more than he spoke, and when he did speak, his words were wise and kind and affirming. He never had a harsh or unkind word for anyone. Accolades and awards never mattered much to him, but he was a hero in his family's eyes. Most importantly, Marvin loved Jesus and everyone who met him saw Jesus in him. He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and grace for every person who ever had the privilege of meeting him.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia Kay of Lynnville, TN; sisters, Rilla Hornick of Martin, GA, and Linda (Wayne) Edwards of Perry, GA; brother, Ben Kay, Jr. of Williamston, SC; his daughter, Sara Juanita (Ron) Weber of Lynnville, TN; grandchildren: Cindy (James) Mitchell of Toccoa, GA, Dedra (Chris) Campbell of Spring Hill, TN, Chris Walker of Chicago, IL, Alex Weber of Knoxville, TN, Nish (Danielle) Kay of Toccoa, GA, Estelle (Nick) Alexander of Toccoa, Ga, and Deanna Nay of Columbia, TN. He has a number of great- grandchildren, and one great, great granddaughter. A host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by daughter, Beverly Kay; son, Tracy Kay, and sisters, Ruby Harrison and Martha Joe Loden.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
