Marvin Ray Sandrell, age 77, longtime owner of Sandrell Heating & Air, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Morgan officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Friday, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Marvin was born in Florence, Alabama on November 26, 1946, and was the owner of Sandrell Heating & Air for fifty years. He later founded Starvin Marvin Auto Sales which he operated until a few years ago.
Throughout his life, Marvin was actively involved in his community and helping others, serving as past chairman of the Tennessee Labor Board, Tennessee Contractor’s Board, Tennessee Code Board, and the Columbia Power and Water Systems Board. He received the Humanitarian Award in 2009 in Maury County. He had a deep passion for antique cars and loved attending car shows. Marvin loved spending time at the Tennessee River and enjoying some catfish while sharing meals and memories with his family and many friends. Marvin was a member of Destiny Church.
He is survived by his sons, Tim (Glenda) Sandrell of Spring Hill, Chris (Laura) Sandrell of Columbia, grandchildren, Brandon (Monica) Sandrell, TJ (Anna) Sandrell, Allison Sandrell (Phil) Terhune, Dustin (Riley) Sandrell, Annlee Sandrell (Kaidyn) Smith, Sadie Sandrell, Chase Sandrell, great grandchildren, Mason Sandrell, Maddox Sandrell, Ezra Sandrell, Cecelia Ray Sandrell, Whitney Terhune, Weston Terhune, Hayden Sandrell, Holden Sandrell, and one on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Shelby Brown and Lois Bostelman, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorene Elizabeth Sandrell, wife, Denise Sandrell, and siblings, Pee Wee Sandrell, Kenneth Sandrell, Louise Brown, Mae Lutts, Ben Sandrell, Lloyd Sandrell, and Herbert Sandrell.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Sandrell, TJ Sandrell, Dustin Sandrell, Chase Sandrell, Phil Terhune, and Kaidyn Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include David Taylor, Steve Bostelman, Mark Bostelman, Calvin Bostelman, and the doctors, nurses, and staff at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Destiny Church, 612 N Main St #3304, Columbia, TN 38401.
