Mary Glendon Adkins, age 84, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 4, 2018 at Life Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 3:30PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 4-8PM and again on Friday from 1:00 -3:30 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 28, 1934 in Lewisburg, Mary was the daughter of the late Tommie Hazlett and the late Ellen Ruth Clifford Hazlett. She worked many years as a seamstress at Weather Tamer and later worked as a secretary at Farm Bureau before retiring. She loved attending church at First Assembly of God where she was a long time member. Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son: Robby (Debbie) Adkins of Murfreesboro; daughter: LuAnn (Eugene) Bryson of Columbia; brothers: Wayne Hazlett of Cornersville, Jerry (Linda) Hazlett of Clarksville; grandchildren: Kaylea Adkins, Megan Adkins, Mike (Stephanie) Tarpley, Eric Tarpley, Jake Tarpley, Jeremy Bryson, Suzanne (Greg) Smith, Kristie Johnson; seventeen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Robby “Bob” Adkins, Sr. on June 15, 2012; step daughter: Connie McNabb, brother: Paul Hazlett; and sisters: Jodi Hazlett, Dot Moore, and Evelyn Baxter.
Pallbearers will be: Jerry Hazlett, Wayne Hazlett, Bud Richardson, William Lynch, Jeremy Bryson, and John David Hazlett.
