Mary Marcella Pitts

Mary Marcella Pitts, age 62, resident of St. Joseph, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System.

Mary was born June 4, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois and was the daughter of the late Ollie Gene Simmons and the late Mary Marlene Medley Simmons.  She graduated high school at Dyer County High School.  She had a heart of gold always working for nonprofit organizations.  She also worked as a resident assistant that would care for disabled adults.  She volunteered at Unity Hospice and enjoyed collecting snowmen.  Mary was a Vols and Titans fan.  Most of all she loved her grandkids.

She is survived by her daughters, Shayna (Joshua) Dokes of Hohenwald and Jessica Sims of Nashville; brother, Greg (Charlene) Simmons of Dyersburg; niece, Samantha Reynolds; and grandchildren, Addison Brewer, Alexis Jenkins, Rowynn Dokes, and Piper Jenkins.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Timothy Pitts; and sister, Miranda Humphreys.
