Mary was the daughter of the late Elias Jasper Boner and the late Gladys McInturff Boner, of Davidson County. She was a 1963 graduate of Hume-Fogg High School.  In June of 1963 she married the love of her life Charles L. Adkins who preceded her in death March 29, 1989.

Mary and her family became members of the Theta, TN community in 1972, she was a former employee of Weather Tamer in Columbia TN.  She enjoyed sewing, cooking, arts, crafts, NASCAR, a good book, movie or TV show and all genres of music. She was a 40+ year member of Theta FCE Club and held many officer positions in FCE. She also wrote “Theta on the Hill”, an article for a local paper that told of FCE and local community events. In the 1970’s Mary was a home room mother for the Santa Fe School class of 1982. After the untimely loss of her husband, and retirement, she became caregiver for many family members and elder friends who needed help at home or transportation.

Mary’s sense of humor was contagious, you could not help but to laugh with her or at her. She never met a stranger, and loved everyone’s children like they were her own. Her yard was the yard in the neighborhood where all the children went to play.  She was a giving woman, would give her opinion whether you wanted it or not, and give to others in need what she had to give.
