Mattie Amos of Columbia, Tennessee

August 12, 1941 - January 9, 2021

Mattie Louise Frierson Amos, age 79, a resident of Columbia, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Christopher Norwood officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Her body will lie in state on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4-8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on August 12, 1941 in Maury County, Mattie was the daughter of the late William H. Frierson and the late Sally Mae Hackney Frierson. She worked many years at General Electric before retiring. Mattie was a mother to everyone and was loved by many. She loved her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: Sheridan Gentry, Faye Amos Cathey, John Lee Amos, Bobby Dean Amos, Greg Amos; grandchildren: Lil John Amos, Christy Gentry, Jarvis Amos, Natasha Smith, Kevin “Tweety” Amos, Angie Amos; sisters: Nettie Frierson (Mack) Bond, Sarah Frierson; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Amos; son, William Amos, Jr.; daughter, Joyce Amos; and grandson, Norris Amos.

Pallbearers will be: Eric Walker, Calvin Shaw, Taymond Smith, Shon Amos, Charles Walker, Tavorris Balentine.
