Mrs. Mattie S. Hobby, age 80, wife of Jerry Hobby, and a resident of Pulaski, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Gibsonville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Maury County, Mattie was born on April 13, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Monroe Adams and the late Ella Mae Sweeney Adams. She married Jerry Hobby on December 1, 1958 and together they had four children. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and tending to her flowers. She had a special love for her beloved pets, but above all, she loved spending time with her family. When she was able, Mattie loved attending church; she was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, Jerry of 62 years, she leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons: Ricky (Jennifer) Hobby of Columbia, James (Kendra) Hobby of Pulaski, Monroe Hobby of Pulaski; daughter, Ella Marie “Sissy” (Mike) Collier of Columbia; brother, James Adams of Columbia; grandchildren: Polly Hobby, Wayne, James, and Janie Hobby, Hunter and Faith Thomas, Mitchell and Lee Collier, Cindy (Johnny) Deloit; Harley and Trinity Pruett; and eight great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Jack Adams, Fronie South, Elizabeth Adams, and James Edward Adams.
Pallbearers will be: Clay Fitzgerald, Johnny McGaw, Phillip Vandiver, Tim Clark, Charlie Collier, and Leonard Chapman.
