Melody was born July 4, 1960, in Maury County and was the daughter of the late James Woods and the late Shirley Blocker Woods. She attended Riverside Elementary, Whitthorne Middle School, and Central High School. With her wonderful personality, Melody never met a stranger and made friends with everyone. She enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, line dancing, and porch sitting with a cup of coffee. She adored children and took care of so many like they were her own. One of her favorite activities was going on wild goose chases and shopping sprees with her best friend, Debbie. She was a member of Loyal Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren and attended all their ballgames being their number one fan. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Shane Harrington of Columbia, Deshanna (Rafael) Gonzalez of Columbia, and Jennifer (Juan) Vargas of Columbia; brothers: Jimmy Woods and Tracey Blocker, both of Columbia; sisters: Stacy (Ronnie) Roland of Columbia, Renee (Tony) Stanfill of Columbia, and Sheryl (David) Upchurch of Culleoka; grandchildren: Alex Harrington, Cameron Harrington, Ty Harrington, Hannah Harrington, Genesis Ascencio, Janessa Ascencio, Jaylon McNeese, Joey McNeese, and Jacob McNeese.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony Woods.
