Mr. Michael “Mickey” Anthony Hay, age 65, husband of Vickie Hay, and a resident of Lewisburg, formerly of Columbia, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 11, 2020 due to injuries sustained in a tractor accident.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Yerkes and Sonny Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on January 30, 1955 in Columbia, Mickey was the son of the late J.W. Hay and the late Betty Potts Hay. He was a 1972 graduate of Santa Fe High School. He married Vickie Scott on June 21, 1975 and together they had one son, Stephen. Mickey worked most of his life as a regional manager for multiple grocery store chains and was most recently a bus driver for the Marshall County School System. For many years, Mickey was in the music ministry, leading worship services for several churches. He and his wife also served as church youth directors for over twenty years. He was a member of Thompson Station Church. He was incredibly talented in wood working and also enjoyed farming. Better known as “Pappy” by his beloved granddaughters, who were the light of his life, Mickey will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife, Vickie, of nearly 45 years, Mickey is survived by his son, Stephen (Carrie) Hay of Franklin; brother, Kenny (Angela) Hay of Spring Hill; sister, Dee Dee (Barry) Blackburn of Columbia; grandchildren: Ellie James Hay and Amelia Hay; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Hensley & Gertie Hay and W.D. “Dee” & Minnie Etta Potts.
Pallbearers will be: Christopher Hay, Jonathan Hay, Connor Collins, Ryan Kelley, A.J. Cordova, and Stan Porter. Honorary pallbearers will include: Roger Foster, Eric Michael, Barry Blackburn and Paton Tucker.
