Michael Lloyd Summar

Mr. Michael Lloyd Summar, age 68, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 7, 1952 in Ripley, Tennessee, Michael was the son of the late Algue Summar and the late Bessie Carroll Summar. Michael was very gregarious, outgoing, and never met a stranger. He was never at a a loss for words, and always persevering. He was a master at “dad jokes” before they were even a thing. He loved his two daughters and four grandchildren, who were his life.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters: Angie (John) Mathis of Spring Hill, Jennifer (Mark) McDaniel of Spring Hill; brothers: Algue (Roberta) Summar of Indiana, Donald (Lola) Summar of Indiana, Van Summar of Indiana; sister, Betty Ford of Indiana; and beloved grandchildren: Andrew Garner, Marley McDaniel, Alex Mathis, and Mabrey McDaniel.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Danny and Terry Summar.
