Mildred Harris

Mildred Juanita Harris, age 71, a resident of Murfreesboro, previously of Columbia, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 12PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Kerry James, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Her body will lie in state on Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Friday from 11AM-12PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 7, 1948 in Williamsport, Mildred was the daughter of the late Richard Harris and the late Willie Mae Gant Harris. She was a 1966 graduate of Carver Smith High School and was a member of Grace United Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia and First Baptist Church in Murfreesboro. She enjoyed going to yard sales, listening to music and dancing. She was an excellent cook who loved taking care of kids.

She is survived by her daughter, Tamela Harris of Columbia; son, Steve (Stenitra) Harris of Columbia; grandchildren: Candace Beasley of Alabama, Shariah Beasley of Murfreesboro, Elijah Beasley of Murfeesboro; great grandchildren: Sha’Niyah Beasley, Justin Frierson, Jr., Izabella Beasley; Hattie Stevenson; devoted nieces and nephew: Chyenne Houston, David Lee Webster, Jr., LaTonya Houston, Kristal Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended relatives.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Charles, Danny, Richard, and Jimmy Harris; and sisters: Lula Sanford, Thelma Campbell, Frances Poindexter, and Rosielee Hannah.

Pallbearers will be: Terrance Webster, Charlie Paul Mitchell, Kevin Bright, Deon Braden, and Ronnie Byrd.  Nieces will serve as flower girls. Nephews to serve as honorary pallbearers.
