Miles “Mike” Edwin Modine, age 74, a resident of Williamsport, passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 17 th at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Deron Henry officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, January 16 th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mike was born on January 2, 1948, in Wyandotte, Michigan and was the son of the late Arthur Edwin Modine and the late Lillian Viola Hill Modine. He was a second generation American whose family immigrated from Sweden and Finland to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He was the youngest of four children and grew up in Wyandotte attending church and school at Trinity Lutheran Church. Mike was a 1967 graduate of Roosevelt High School, and directly out of high school was drafted into the United States Army where he served for two years during the Vietnam War. He worked for General Motors in Detroit, Michigan before transferring to the plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Most recently he worked at Armada Nutrition in Spring Hill until his passing.
Mike married the love of his life, Laura-Ann in December of 1975 and together they had eight children. He was a compassionate and caring person who always put others before himself and never passed up the opportunity to help those in need. He was passionate about End Times Prophecy and spent countless hours studying scripture and looking for signs of Jesus’ return. Mike enjoyed fishing, was an avid swimmer, and loved bowling with his family. He also enjoyed camping and taking trips to the beach. He was a member of First Family Baptist Church.
Miles is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Laura-Ann Modine; sons, Miles (Joshua) Edwin Modine, II, Joel Kevin Allan (Krystal Lynn) Modine, Samuel Jarrette (Hannah Ward) Modine, Jeremie Scott Modine, Timothy Ryan (Kathryn) Modine; daughters, Jackie Evette (Jorge) Chavez, Laura-Ann (Daniel) Harris, and Sarah Lillian Marie Modine; brothers, Franklin “Skip” (Linda) Modine and Jonathan Modine; sister, Karen Evelyn Tesorero; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Chavez, Zachary Pyle, Danyael Chavez, Emily Pyle, Matthew Pyle, Gabrielle Chavez, Jenna Pyle, Cecilia Chavez, Rayven, Gabriel, Lilith, Atlas, Wilham, and Arya Modine, Alexandria, Aven, Axton, and Rowan Modine, Ethena (Allie-Grace) Coffee, Declan Coffee, and Lagetha Brownlee.
Along with his parents she was preceded in death by his sister in law, Anne Modine; cousin, Dr. Carla Modine Cook; and grandson, Xavier Michael Modine.
Pallbearers will be Miles “Joshua” Modine, Joel “Krystal Lynn” Modine, Timothy Modine, Zachary Pyle, Matthew Pyle, Jorge Chavez, and Kris Faulkenberg.
