Monika Ilse Eastep

Monika Ilse Eastep, age 75, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at her residence. 

Born on October 27, 1949, in Bayreuth, Germany, Monika was the daughter of the late Leopold Redl and the late Rosa Hahn Redl. Monika made her home in the United States where she worked as a skilled seamstress at Publix. Known for her hard-working nature, she was admired by her family and friends. 

Monika found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She took great pride in her flower garden and enjoyed relaxing with crime and drama shows. Monika was also an enthusiast for the open road, as she loved riding her Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

Above all, Monika was devoted to her family. Her love and care for them were at the heart of who she was, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her son, Andreas Eastep, daughter, Susan (Kirk) Marks, brothers, Peter Redl, Manfred (Barbel) Redl, Klaus (Irmi) Redl), Helmut (Regina) Redl, Andreas (Heidi) Redl, sisters, Claudia (Gunter), Susanne (Sascha) Mueller, grandchildren, Andrea Eastep, Josef Eastep, Daniel Eastep, Mychael (Jazmine) Chunn, Alexia (Carter) Prescott, and great grandchildren, Sophia, Ellianna, Mycah, Arwen, and Annika. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Christa and Adela. 

There will be no public service at this time. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
