Nancy Carol (Wrightman) Gooch, 74, died April 15, 2022, peacefully in her home in Columbia TN. Nancy was recently diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer and soon entered hospice care.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at 3:00 PM with Mike Dodrill officiating. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was youngest girl of seven children born in Detroit, Michigan. Her parents moved to Los Angeles, California, when she was fifteen years old. Nancy attended Thomas M Cooley High School in Detroit and John Marshall High School in Los Angeles. Nancy started college at Los Angeles City College and completed her bachelor’s degree at California State University, Los Angeles.
In California, Nancy’s career includes working at the L.A. Times newspaper, Pacific Bell Telephone, Union Pacific Railroad, Honda Motor Company, and Lancaster County HR. In Tennessee, she worked as an administrative assistant for Saturn Motor Company in Springhill. Nancy married her beloved husband Evan Gooch on December 21, 1986. They moved to Tennessee 1992. Nancy was a proud member of The Red Hat Society and Calvary Chapel Columbia. Her favorite pastime was doing crafts with her grandchildren. Nancy was known as our family genealogist and kept the family connected and informed. Nancy is predeceased by parents Hebert and Agnes (Jones) Wrightman from Walpole Island First Nations and siblings: Wesley (New Mexico), Ronald (California), Barbara Holman (California), and Larry (California).
Nancy is survived by husband Evan Gooch, son Christopher (Heather) and beloved grandchildren Zachary (Claudia) , Breanna, Elizabeth ‘Lizzie’ and Kevin. Along with her sister Pauline (Richard) Kennedy, Michigan, Jonell (Jay) Winter, Nevada, Cousin Cynthia (Wrightman) Jenkins (Canada), and many dear nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, from all over the world who all loved and adored their Aunt Nancy.
