Norma Jean Brown

July 21, 1931 — June 29, 2024

Norma Jean Blalock Brown, age 92, a resident of Spring Hill, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at The Reserve at Spring Hill.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Brother Joe Trimble officiating.  Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Hargrove Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Norma was born on July 21, 1931, and was the daughter of the late William Robert Blalock and the late Willie Myrtle Childress Blalock.  She was a proud graduate of Columbia Central High School Class of 1949.  She was a faithful member of the Old Lasea Church of Christ.  Norma's hands were never idle; she found joy and fulfillment in quilting, crocheting, and various other handcrafts. Playing cards was another passion of Norma's, with Spee being one of her favorite games, bringing both challenge and camaraderie.  A nature lover, Norma delighted in gardening, nurturing both flowers and vegetables with care and dedication. Her garden was a testament to her patience and love for the earth. Camping and fishing were also among her cherished pastimes, activities she enjoyed with friends and family, creating lasting memories.

Above all, Norma treasured her family. She found immense happiness in the time spent with her loved ones, celebrating life’s milestones, sharing laughter, and offering her support and love.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Penny (Larry) Gish of Spring Hill; daughter-in-law, Marian Brown of Spring Hill; brothers, Bill (Carol) Blalock of Gallatin and Danny Blalock of Chapel Hill; sister, Barbara Blalock Haynes of Spring Hill; sister-in-law, Shirley Blalock; grandchildren, Amanda (Wayne) Gish King and Lee Gish; and great-grandchildren, Ally King and Basil King.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Brown; infant son, Herbert Dale Brown; son, Phillip Brown; sibling, Regenia Gilliam,; brothers-in-law, John David Gilliam, James “Buck” Goldman; sister-in-law, Jean Blalock; brother, Wayne Blalock; brother and sister-in-law, Travis and Mary Ann Blalock; and sister-in-law, Marlene Blalock

Serving as pallbearers will be Norma’s nephews, Bobby Gilliam, John Gilliam, Earl Goldman, Kevin Blalock, Freddy Blalock, Rick Blalock, Jimmy Blalock, Jerry Blalock, and Mark Blalock.
