Norma Hunter

Norma Rebecca Hunter, age 91, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday morning, July 2, 2020 at NHC Columbia.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2020 at 2PM at The Lighthouse Church of Jesus Christ with Bro. Darrell Thrasher, Bro. Eric Redd and Bro. Bill Webb officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2020 from 4-7PM at the church. She will be laid to rest on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 11AM at Polk Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on June 5, 1929 in Hohenwald, Norma was the daughter of the late James Walter Reed and the late Dalphia May Polluck Reed. In 1957 Norma’s husband, Lewis Hunter, starter Hunter’s Body Shop of Columbia. She was a faithful and devoted member of The Lighthouse Church of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed staying at home cooking and keeping her house clean. Norma was a people person who loved her family and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters: Sherry (Keith) Casteel of Columbia, Barbara Howard of Columbia; brothers: Wayne (Debbie) Reed of Columbia, Rev. Larry (Carla) Reed of Laurel, MS; sister, Helen Margaret Conner of Columbia; grandchildren: David Lewis “D.L.” Howard, Rebecca Brinkley, Tammy Erwin, Stephanie Pagan, April Redd; great grandchildren: Jazmine Pagan, Lexie Pagan, Briley Redd, Rylan Redd, Felishia Ragsdale, Brooklyn Howard, Bryleigh Kirland, Coleman Brinkley, Bella Brinkley; and great great grandchildren: Matthew Ragsdale, Noah Ragsdale, Gracie Ragsdale, and Eli Fitzgerald.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Hunter; and brother, Jerry Reed.

Pallbearers will be: D.L. Howard, Steve Reed, Wayne Reed, John James, Noah Ragsdale, Rylan Redd, and Matthew Ragsdale. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of The Lighthouse Church of Jesus Christ.
