Olive Marie Petersen Guschke, age 92, resident of Columbia, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family after a brief illness on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 27 th at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Olive was born September 11, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts and was the daughter of Anna Christian and James Robert Kent. She was the tenth child of ten and was raised by her oldest sister, Jessie Gilman. She graduated from Roslindale High School in 1945 and worked as the secretary to the Vice President of the New York/New Hampshire/Hartford Railroad. In September 1947, she married Hartman J. Petersen. In 1956 they moved to Venice, Florida. In 1968 they relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana and remained there until 1995 when they moved to Columbia, Tennessee.

Olive led a full and busy life. She enjoyed traveling, especially cruises. She loved being with her family and friends and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, ceramics, quilting, and all types of crafts. She had an open love and heart for all animals and her pets. She was member of Columbia Red Hat Society, NewComers Club, Golden Kiwanis, and a volunteer Ambassador at Maury Regional Medical Center. She was a member of St. Lukes Methodist Church in Columbia, Tennessee.

Olive is survived by her daughter, Diane (Gary) Ware of Columbia, Tennessee and son, Glenn (Melinda) Petersen of Plano, Texas; grandchildren: Jennifer (Josh) Love of Tomball, Texas; Jeremy Ware of Santa Rosa Island, Florida , and Paul Petersen of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Julie Love, Joshua Love, Deliah Petersen, Archer Laughridge, and Dax Petersen.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and father of their children, Hartman J. Petersen; son, Ronald J. Petersen, granddaughter Leigh Taylor Petersen, and husband Thomas E. Guschke.
