Mr. Paul R. Sands, age 90, a resident of Lynnville, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at NHC Healthcare.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15 th at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Milton Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Paul was born August 13, 1928 in Giles County and was the son of the late Ruthen and Estelle Hickman Sands. He graduated from Campbellsville High School and worked as an operator at Texas Eastern Pump Station. He married the love of his life Marguerite on St. Patrick’s Day in 1956. Paul was a faithful member of the American Legion Post in Lynnville. After they closed that post, he served in Pulaski. He was a life long farmer and after he retired you could find him at the local stock barn trading cattle. Most of all, Paul and his wife loved spending time with the grandkids.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Marguerite Derryberry Sands of Lynnville; daughter: Debbie (Terry “Die-Hard”) Davis of Columbia; sister: Jean Clark of Columbia; grandchild: Cassie (Andrew) Massey of Mt. Pleasant; and great grandchildren: Myleigh Massey, Dale Massey, and Hunter Massey.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amanda Davis.
Pallbearers will be Gary Sims, Cliff Journey, Harlen Jones, Jerry Phares, Virgil White, Gary “Colonel” Littleton. Friends of the Lynnville Church of Christ, the staff of NHC Columbia, Lisa Tiller, and Dorothy Mesnage will serve as honorary pallbearers.
