Phillip Sidney Massey

Mr. Phillip Sidney Massey, age 59, partner of Kathy Lockett Massey, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday evening, June 29, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.

A private service will be held for family and close friends at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Columbia, Phillip was born on September 24, 1961, and was the son of Barbara Annette Allen Massey and the late Joe Horace Massey. He was a 1979 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and married Kathy Lockett on June 6, 1981. Phillip worked many years in maintenance at ITW- Shipper’s Paper Products in Mt. Pleasant. While employed there, he assisted with the development of two patents of which he is a co-owner. A true outdoorsman, he often enjoyed fishing and farming and loved automobiles and tractors. Phillip was an avid University of Tennessee football fan. He never met a stranger, had a great sense of humor, and made everyone he met feel loved. A loving husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother, he will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Eric Raymond Massey of Columbia, daughter, Darla Marie (Rachel Bryant) Massey of Manchester, sister, Jennifer Massey of Mt. Pleasant, grandchildren, Harrison James Massey, Scarlett Whitlow Massey, sisters in law, Tammy Lockett (Randy) Wooldridge, Tina Lockett (Robert) Garrett, Annette (Zane) Clark, and several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jerilyn Annette Massey Lamb.
