Phyllis Woodruff Thomson, age 71, a resident of Columbia, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, June 24, 2021, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Keith Baker, Rick Points, and Dr. Connie Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born September 26, 1949, in Jackson, MS, Phyllis was the daughter of the late Phil and Mary Lester Meek Woodruff. Phyllis worked as an advertising sales representative at the Daily Herald for over 25 years. Most recently, she worked part time for the State of TN Senior Citizens for meals on wheels.
Phyllis is survived by her sons: Joey (Kristian) Stewart of Collierville, TN and Richard Lee “Rusty” Stewart of Columbia, TN; sister: Marion (Kenny) Brown of Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Megan Stewart and Grace Stewart; her boyfriend: Jim Hutcheson of Columbia, TN; and many nephews and nieces.
She enjoyed Rock & Roll music, fishing, and her cat Turkey! Her most favorite times were spent at the beach, spending time with her granddaughters, slow dancing with Jim, and their special road trips.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the following: The Maury County Animal Shelter,1233 Mapleash Ave, Columbia, TN 38401, The Maury County Senior Citizens Center, 1020 Maury County Park Dr, Columbia, TN 38401, or the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37203, all of which have impacted her life.
