Born August 2,1958, in San Franciso De Macoris, Dominican Republic, Ramon was the son of Ana Julia Anibal. Ramon was always a very loving and caring person.
At a very young age Ramon developed a love for working on cars. Even though he had to quit school in 3rd grade to help care for his mom and grandmother, he had a vast knowledge of everything school and life related. With help from friends, family, and books Ramon learned a vast amount of knowledge and skills that led him to a very good and successful life as the best auto mechanic around.
In 1989, Ramon moved to New York to build a better life for his kids and family. He suffered in all the weathers doing mechanical work to make sure family had what was needed to survive.
In 2003, with kids grown, Ramon headed south for warmer weather to work not so hard on his aging body. With Alabama in mind, Tennessee won his heart, and this is where he started a new life.
Ramon rented a shop at 203 East 16th street in Columbia from Chevy White where he worked until his started having health issues in May 2024.
Ramon would work 6-7 days a week because he loved his job. He said he loved learning new knowledge about new cars. He took pride in his work and never halfway did a job.
Other than working, the other loves in his life were his wife, kids, grandkids, and fishing. He also had an amazing watch collection he started 3 years ago.
Ramon was very private with personal life and didn't like being the center of attention. With that he always requested not to have a funeral service when the time came, instead he wanted to be cremated and taken back home to be with his mom and grandmother.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Laura Southern Mayi, children, Evelyn Diaz, Esmirna (Mark) Hawkins, Idamiris (Jason) Rodriguez, Ramon Mayi, Jay (Kristen) Huckabay, Heather (Terry) McCowan, Mary Huckabay, grandchildren, Steven, Abiel, Rayn, Vance, Zianna, Jake, Aubrey, Adalynn, Isabella, Ryan, Dean, Elijah, and Azaria, and two granddogs, Paxton & Titan.
