Renee Cuomo

February 25, 1923 — August 10, 2019

Renee Cuomo, 96, of Franklin Tennessee passed peacefully August 10, 2019 at her home surrounded by friends and family.

She was born Renee Catherine Mauriello to Louis and Amelia Mauriello on February 25, 1923 in Schenectady NY, the youngest of three daughters who all became career RN’s. She was known for her engaging personality, sense of adventure, youthful good looks and a sharp sense of humor. As such, Renee was said to have never met a stranger.

She married at the end of WW II but found herself a widow and mother at the young age of 23. She remarried in 1951, eventually moving with her family to California in 1955 where she remained until 1993. During that time, she practiced full time nursing, hospital administration, along with her love of psychology studies and counseling help groups as well as being a mother to two more children. She remained married for the next 24 years.

At the encouragement of her oldest son William, she moved to Tennessee in 1993, fell in love with the people and purchased her home in Franklin. She began dating her high school sweetheart Frank Foster a few years later and they married in 1999 at the young age of 76. They enjoyed 15 years together, working at the Factory in Franklin, traveling the world and enjoying life. She continued her avid love of reading and studying human behavior and never found an animal rescue group she didn’t like.

She is survived by her older sister Ruth Schindler, half-brother Ralph Mauriello (and wife Margaret), oldest son William (and wife Vanessa), son Curtis and daughter Gina along with numerous nieces and nephews.

At her request there will be no public service, but rather a gathering of friends and relatives to celebrate her life. She will be missed by all that knew her.

Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.
