Mr. Reynold F. “Ray” Morrical, age 77, husband of Zona “Betsy” Morrical, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Brookdale Assisted Living.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 11AM at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 10-11AM at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in St. James Cemetery in Illinois. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on May 28, 1941 in Irwin, Illinois, Ray was the son of the late Harrison Daniel Morrical and the late Marie Denault Morrical. He grew up on a corn farm and went to Herscher High School where he played football and was on the track team. Ray worked as a property manager and business owner for Singer Sewing Machine Company. He was a devoted member of St. Catherine Catholic Church where he served on the Knights of Columbus. He was proud of his Catholicism, family, friends, his business, and volunteering. He enjoyed landscaping, repairing sewing machines, and traveling. He dearly loved his wife, Betsy, and his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Stuart Morrical of Illinois, Ken Trevarthan of Illinois, Denise Ballinger of Illinois; brothers: Leslie (Donna) Morrical of Illinois, Ron (Linda) Morrical of Illinois; sister in law: Juanita Morrical of Illinois; grandchildren: James Trevarthan, Sera Welch, Mike Poynter, Maddy Morrical, Alexa Morrical; and great grandson: Max Poynter.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Leverne Morrical and sister, Ermadell Hendricks.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Brookdale Assisted Living and the staff of Avalon Hospice for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
