Richard Lewie Wetmore, age 92, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, peacefully at his residence.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Craft Memorial United Methodist Church at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Richard was born on September 28, 1932, to the late Lewie and Emma Wetmore. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He married his best friend and love of his life Betty Stang Wetmore and together they celebrated seventy years of marriage. He enjoyed woodworking, often making wooden toys, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, camping, traveling, bowling, farming, and International and Massey Ferguson tractors. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was also a member of Craft United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gerry (Vicki) Wetmore, daughter, Paula (Joe) Craig, eleven grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and special friends Jeff (Carolyn) Thompson
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, David Wetmore, brother, Harold Wetmore and sister Eleanor Miller.
