Rita Lynn Brunson

Rita went to her eternal home on June 16, 2023, at the age of 57, after a long battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 18th at 3:00pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Richard VanCleave officiating.  Burial followed at Rock Springs Cemetery where she was laid to rest beside her beloved mother.  The family visited with friends on Sunday from 1:00 -3:00pm at the funeral home.  Heritage Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Rita was born February 3, 1966, to the late Margie Marie Rochelle Gilliam and the late John H. Gilliam.  She married Jerry C. Brunson March 7, 1985, and lived a beautiful life with him in Culleoka until her death.  Rita was vibrant and lived every day to enjoy and celebrate others.  She worked for many years as an LPN and positively affected many of her clients’ lives as well as her coworkers.  She loved to have fun and be with her family and friends and was known for her sense of humor.  Rita was loved by everyone who met her.

Rita was the oldest of five children.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by her siblings, Melody (Jessie) Gilliam, Lanette Gilliam, John (Brandy) Gilliam, and Chad Gilliam; sister in law, Janice Grooms; nieces and nephews, Desiree Estes, Ashleigh Gilliam, Tristan Bergman, Amber Gilliam, Colt Gilliam, Thoran Gilliam, Scott Seagraves, and Shane Seagraves; she also had many bonus nieces and nephews whom she loved and devoted much of her time and love to.

Pallbearers were Trey Fuller, Dalyn Brady, Dan Nolen, Evan Nolen, Logan Nolen, Jake Garland, and Tristan Bengman.  Honorary pallbearers were Bill Gentry, Jim Bailey, John Moser, Harry Masterson, David Thomas, Virgil Stewart, Jeff Baker, and Jr. Cates.

In lieu of flowers Rita had requested for donations to be made to the Maury County Animal Shelter, 1233 Mapleash Ave Columbia, TN 38401.
