Mr. Robert “Bobby” Daimwood Hardison, age 90, a resident of Columbia, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022, from 1:00 - 2:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia. A private family graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM at Jones Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
A native of Maury County, Bobby was born on September 8, 1931, and was the son of the late Robert D. Hardison and the late Willie Mae Dunnivant Hardison. He was a twenty-year retired veteran of the United States Air Force where he served as a meteorologist. While in the service, he participated in a talent contest where he and other winners were granted a flight in a helicopter over Washington D.C. One of his biggest hobbies was electronics, and he graduated from Oklahoma State University in electronics in 1961. He was employed as scheduling of production for buyers at Phelps Dodge Aluminum Plant in Columbia. In January of 1971, he owned and operated Hardison’s TV Sales and Service for twenty-one years, retiring again in October 1991. He married Betty Jim Hardin in 1950 and together they had four children; she preceded him in death.
Very musically inclined, Bobby played in several bands, once appearing on the Grand Ole Opry, performing two times on the “Ralph Emery Show” on WSM in Nashville. Over the last several years, he loved playing guitar at Cates Music Barn in Santa Fe. Bobby also taught guitar lessons and was a guitar repairman. He loved riding motorcycles, was a car fanatic, and was a former member of The International King Midget Car Club.
He is survived by his son, Robin Dale (Kim) Hardison of Jasper, TN, daughter, Brenda Gail Hardison-Burrows of Columbia, TN, brother, Eddie (Dolly) Hardison, sister, Barbara (Johnny) Butler, grandchildren, Jimmy Hardison, Lee Ann Guffey, April Burrows Giesler, Adrian Burrows, Aimee Burrows Deane, Katherine Chevere, Ryan Hardison, Kristina Hardison, and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Steve Hardison, daughter, Cynthia Ann Hardison, sister, Norma Moore, and brother, J.L. Hardison.
