Mr. Robert “Bobby” Harris Cook, age 74, husband of Sylvia Cook, and a resident of Kinzer Lane in Columbia, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019 at his residence.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bertie Cook Llewellyn officiating. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace in Maury Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Better known as “Diddy” by his family, Bobby was born on April 10, 1945 in Long Beach, California and was the son of the late William Riley Cook and the late Rebecca Harris Cook. He was a 1964 graduate of Santa Fe High School where he played basketball for four years. He married Sylvia Anderson on April 9, 1965 and together they had three daughters. Bobby worked at Columbia Neon for several years and later began working at General Electric before starting his own business Cook’s Heating and Air where he worked until his health failed him. He enjoyed fishing and loved watching his children and grandchildren play ball. Bobby was loved by many and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Sylvia of 54 years, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters: Bethany Cook Watson (Keith Garrison) of Pulaski, Deanna Cook (Ken) Loveless of Spring Hill, Dana Cook Wyatt of Spring Hill; sister: Bertie (James) Llewellyn of Columbia; grandchildren: Kandace (Cherish) Jackson, Paige (Justin) Farris, Tyler Watson, Austin Wyatt, Ali Wyatt, Ethan Wyatt, Elizabeth Loveless, Bailey Loveless, Jackson Loveless; great grandchildren: Lexi Grayce Hagood, Lauren Hagood, Ryker Farris, Asher Burchell; sisters and brothers in law: Raymond (Sarah) Anderson, Helen Massey, George Vandiver; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his great grandson: Lucas Andrew Hagood; and sister in law: Jean Vandiver.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Tyler Watson, Austin Wyatt, Ethan Wyatt, Jackson Loveless, Jeff Vandiver, James Vandiver, Wayne Vandiver, Jason Llewellyn, Kerry Massey, Santa Fe High School Class of 1964 and basketball team.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Hospice Compassus for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
