Robert Martin Mckay Iii

Robert Martin McKay, III, age 75, a resident of Columbia, passed away Friday morning, September 29, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born on June 28, 1948, in Columbia, Tennessee, Robert was the son of the late Robert M. McKay, Jr. and the late Lois House McKay. He was a 1966 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned his degree in Political Science from Lipscomb University. For many years, Robert was the owner of WKRM/WKOM radio station in Columbia, contributing to the community through his dedication and passion for broadcasting. One of Robert's greatest joys in life was his membership in the Maury County Gun Club. He was also a long time member of the Columbia Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his sons, Brent (Kristi) Beatty of Columbia, TN, Travis (Cheri) Beatty of Spring Hill, TN, sister Baylor Anne (Charles) Bone of Hendersonville, TN, grandchildren, Austin (Keri) Beatty, Case Beatty, Bonnie McKay Adams, Grayson Beatty, Conner Beatty, Hayden Eckman, Isabel Eckman, and special friends, Howard Parker, Ron Bell, Harold Melson, Jeff Newkirk, and Jerry Perry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ginger McKay on January 11, 2022, and daughter, Kristen Eckman.

In accordance with Robert's wishes, there will be no public memorial service. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
