Robert Clay Pruitt, Sr.

Robert Clay Pruitt, Sr., age 78, resident of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at his residence.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 19th at 11:00 AM at Parkway Baptist Church with Mike Roberts officiating.  A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home.  Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

A native of Maury County, Robert was born on July 31, 1942 and was the son of the late Chester Clay Pruitt and the late Mary Etta Chatman Pruitt. He previously worked at the Maury County Waste Department and was a member of the Open Door Baptist Church.  He taught Sunday School for many years there.  He enjoyed mowing his yard and scrapping.  Most of all he loved trading things.  As a devout Christian he had a passion for studying his Bible.  Robert also raised goats and Great Pyrenees.  He was Chaplain at the Maury County Jail and worked many years at Maury Fence Company.

He is survived by his loving wife: Tammy Clark Pruitt of Columbia; Sons: Clay (Delana) Pruitt of Columbia, Jimmy Pruitt (Kim Bates) of Clifton, and Shane Riggins of Columbia; Brother: Dennis (Margaret) Pruitt of Santa Fe; and Grandchildren: Faith Riggins, Thaddeus Riggins, Jay Pruitt, and Brandy Pruitt.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Margaret Ann Fralix.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
