Roberta Potts Stanley

Roberta Potts Stanley, age 75, a resident of Rock Springs Road in Columbia, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Maury Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Lyndall Propst and Keith Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on January 19, 1948, in Santa Fe, Roberta was the daughter of the late Robert Miles Potts and the late Betty Mae Potts. She was a 1967 graduate of Santa Fe High School. She worked many years for Publix Sewing Factory and Dixie Manufacturing and later enjoyed her job of cleaning offices and homes. She was a member of Elmore Church of the Nazarene and most recently attended Rock Springs Presbyterian Church.

Roberta will be remembered by her sweet and kind personality and her love for interior design and homemaking. She could spend countless hours in TJ Maxx and would decorate her home to an elaborate extent. She enjoyed hosting dinner parties and spending time with and talking to her friends. Roberta was a faithful wife to her husband, the love of her life, Mark with whom she often loved traveling. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2010. Above all, Roberta loved her family, especially her nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews who she loved to always dress up when they were young. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her brother, Donald Potts of Primm Springs, brother in law, John Stanfill of Primm Springs, aunts, Margie Lancaster, Earline Morrow, Ester Kinney, Carolyn Potts, Kathleen Mitchell, and Linda Wall; uncles: Billy Potts, Charlie Potts; Godson, Jojo Mendes, nieces and nephews, Tracy Potts, Andrea Potts, Stacey Potts, Jamie Potts, Robin Potts Johnson, Jade Potts (Richard) Upton, Bridget Stanley, Lauren Stanley Albert, Jill Stanley, and great nieces and nephews, Jaylyn Johnson, Kaylyn Guzman, Bellamy Upton, Birdie Upton, and Holden Potts.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her, brothers, Steve Potts, infant Jerry Potts, sister, Joy Ann Potts Stanfill, aunts, Audrey Slaughter, Ruthie Stanfill, Marie Goodson, Janice Burgett, and uncles, Frank Potts, R.B. Potts, Jerry Potts, Calvin Potts, Jr., J B Potts, Tommy Potts, and Cecil  Potts.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Potts, Tim Stanfill, Mark Jett, Richard Upton, Kirsten Agent, Jojo Mendes, Troy Potts, and Doyle Potts. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Roberta’s cousins.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Patricia Jett and Roberta’s cousins, neighbors and caregivers who loved and cared for Roberta over the years.
