Roger Glenn King, age 60, resident of Columbia and husband of Doris Young King, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 18 th at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home with Rick Points and Pastor Steven Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Army National Guard. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, August 17 th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again on Wednesday from 12:00pm until the 2:00 pm service hour at the funeral home.
Roger was born September 26, 1960 in Davidson County and was the son of the late Riley King and Gracie Street King. He graduated from Central High School and served our country in the National Guard. He worked for many years at Pioneer Manufacturing and was a member of Destiny Church. He enjoyed Nascar and working on cars. He was a handyman that could fix anything. Roger loved dancing, country music, and was a talented drummer. His wife was the love of his life and he told everyone he met that. Doris took care of Roger since 2007 when he became disabled. She loved him like Jesus does. You never saw one without the other. His babies were the light of his life as well. His spent his days playing with them, doing hair and makeup. He will be dearly missed.
Along with his wife, Doris Young King, he is survived by his mother, Gracie Street King of Culleoka, stepson, Lee (Gina) Young of Columbia, brother, Gary King of Culleoka, grandchild, Brittany (John) McMeen of Columbia, and great grandchildren, Chesney Stein, Laikyn Stein, Kendyn McMeen, and Abby McMeen, all of Columbia.
He is preceded in death by his father, Riley King, and stepson, Kenny Gowan.
Pallbearers will be Tony Westmoreland, Timmy Morton, Justin Cook, Jerry Wright, Billy Young, and Dillon Ocaña. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends at TDR Country.
