Roger Rainey

Roger William Rainey, age 73, resident of Parsons, Tennessee passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at St. Thomas West Hospital.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Perryville Baptist Church with Pastor Rodney Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Perryville Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Roger William Rainey was born on April 6th, 1950, in Butzbach Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1956 with his mother, Maria Rainey. They later moved to Parsons when he was in middle school, and he spent the rest of his life there.  Roger was a devoted husband to Belinda Webster Rainey for almost 45 years. They had one daughter, Amanda, who was his pride and joy.

Roger was mechanically inclined from a very young age and was particularly interested in cars. He prided himself on the fact that he built his home and resided there until his death. He was an honest man who loved good food and large family gatherings. He was known by his friends and family as the man who could fix anything. He repaired broken toys for his grandchildren, repaired appliances for his mother and wife, and everything for his daughter (broken purse straps, failed science experiments, car problems, and scraped knees just to name a few). Roger loved to tell a story down to every last detail. He loved his family and was the ultimate gift giver. Always taking time to ensure that holidays were special, and memories were made. Roger had a strong work ethic and spent his early years working offshore as an engineer on a dredging boat. He worked for the United States Postal service until his retirement several years ago.

Roger will be terribly missed by his loving wife, Belinda Rainey of Parsons, TN; mother, Maria Rainey of Parsons, TN; precious daughter, Amanda (Van) Leeper of Nashville, TN; and precious grandchildren, William Van Leeper and Emerson Louise Leeper; brother, Dexter (Ginger) Rainey of Parsons, TN; sister-in-law, Cindy Redden of Darden, TN; and brother-in-law, Shane (Vicky) Webster of Lobelville, TN; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Brian Haralston, Derrick Montgomery, Jacob Pasco, Tony Monroe, Carson Dickson, and Richard Lee Severns. Honorary pallbearers will be Van Leeper, Emerson Leeper, William Leeper, and Blayze Severns.
