David "Daddy Rock" Alexander

April 9, 1951 — August 5, 2020

David Alexander, age 69, husband of Martha Owens Alexander, and a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at St. Thomas West Hospital.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from3-8PM at Heritage Funeral Home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

David was born in Visalia, California and was the son of the late Roy Alexander, Jr. and the late LaQuita Shepard Alexander. He married Martha Owens on September 11, 1970 and together they had two children. He started farming as a young boy and later became a cattleman. He worked many years for Tennessee Livestock Producers. A true outdoorsman, David enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a loving husband who especially loved his children and grandchildren. David also enjoyed spending time with his brothers in law and sisters in law.

In addition to his wife of nearly fifty years, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, David (Vickie) Alexander, IV of Spring Hill; daughter, Candi (Jason) Anderson of Culleoka; grandchildren: Nickole (Nick) Drewry, Jean “Sissy” (Wesley) Wauford, Luna Alexander, Wyatt Anderson, Eve Anderson, Harper Anderson; great grandchildren: Kenzi Drewry, Hazel Drewry; sister, Judy (Rick) Whitson; brothers in law and sisters in law: Vance (Mary Ruth) Owens, Timmy (Marybell) Owens, Vivian (Warren) Davis, Vickie (Joey) Allen, Gail Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joy Scott; and mother and father in law, Virgil “Bud” & Christine Owens.
