Ruby Malugin Potts

Ruby Lucille Malugin Potts, age 84, a resident of Columbia, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 2PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Potts Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 4-8PM and again on Sunday from 1-2PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on April 2, 1935 in Primm Springs, Ruby was the daughter of the late William Malugin and the late Hattie Calvdier Malugin. She married James “Jim” Potts in January of 1950; he preceded her in death on May 16, 2012. She retired after working many years for the Shirt and Shoe Factory. Ruby was a member of the West 7 ^th Street Church of Christ. A devout Christian, she loved reading her Bible. Besides her work as a homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and cooking. She was a loving mother who loved her children and grandchildren and will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children: Kenneth (April) Potts of Columbia, Jerrell (Penny Filson) Potts of Duck River, Marvin Potts of Columbia, Janice Roberts of Spring Hill, Linda Collier of Columbia; grandchildren: Nicole (Kevin) Thomason, Tracy Stewart, Troy (Samantha) Roberts, Jamie Potts, Jonathan (Jennifer) Potts, James Potts; and great grandchildren: Jacob Thomason, Lily Thomason, Brooklyn Roberts, Euwin Roberts, Blake Stewart, Ryan Stewart, Nathan Stewart, Knox Roberts, Korbyn Stoops, and Ethan Beasley.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son: William Potts; brothers: Homer Malugin, Edward Malugin; and sisters: Mamie Allen and Annie Mai Slaughter.

Pallbearers will be: James Potts, Jonathan Potts, Troy Roberts, Dean Adkisson, Brian Adkisson, and Shane Adkisson. Honorary pallbearers will include: Ethan Beasley, David Foster, Doug Lee, and Dylan Adkisson.
