Samuel Eugene Davidson

Samuel Eugene “Gene” Davidson, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at the age of 87.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the members of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #31 officiating. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gene was born on August 1, 1936, in Maury County, Tennessee, and was the son of the late Marvin E. Davidson and the late Frances Dark Davidson. He retired in 1991 from the United States Postal Service with thirty-five years of service. He was a fifty-year member of the Columbia Lodge #31 Free Masons, Columbia Council #139, Lafayette Chapter #4 Royal Arch Mason and Franklin Commandry #11 Knights Templar. As a young man his spare time was spent hunting and fishing. He later became interested in electronics and became a ham radio operator for over fifty years. He was also an amateur woodworker, a hobby he loved most of his life, making toys and furniture for family friends and grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Tammie (Dennis) Andrews, daughter in law, Teresa Davidson, son in law, Kevin Banks, grandchildren, April (Chris) England, Mike Davidson, Jr., Kaleb (Megan) Banks, Ashlee (Jason) Bearden, Katie (Bryar) Payton, great grandchildren, Isaac England, Peyton Davidson, Carlee Davidson, Greyson Bearden, Levi Bearden, and Ridge Payton, niece, Rebecca Chewning, and great nephews, Carson and Bennett Chewning.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of forty-four years, the love of his life, Elizabeth Robey Demastus Davidson, son, Mike Davidson, Sr., daughter, Kathy Banks, sister, Margaret Carter, and nephew, James Anthony Carter.

Members of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #31 will serve as pallbearers. Gene’s grandsons and great grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438.
