Inurnment will follow in the Serenity Garden in Maury Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 2:00 PM until the 4:00 PM service hour at the funeral home. A man of humble beginnings, he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and earned everything he had. He was a respectful steward of anything he owned. He served faithfully in the United States Army and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3) in the Artillery. He knew everything there was to know about long range missiles and tactics and always led others by example. After military retirement, Sam drove millions of safe miles for Schneider International.
A shining example of faith and a selfless servant, Sam never met a stranger and never passed by an opportunity to serve others. He was a very active member of his church, Immanuel Baptist. His love of old cars and Harley Davidson motorcycles was evident to anyone he spoke to. He had the innate ability to fix just about anything. He was a walking “how to manual” and geographical reference expert. We often coined him as the original GPS…”Sam Sam”!
Samuel leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Carolyn Marie Seagraves from Columbia, TN and three children Douglas and Maria Seagraves from Mustang, Oklahoma, Donald from Caney Springs, TN, and Karen and Matthew McCoy from Huntsville, AL. Additionally, he has 11 grandkids: Lindsey, Brittney, Mitchel, Francisco (Jr.), Sharon, Isaac, Hannah, Micah, Zachery, Daniella, and Lauryn and 10 great grandkids. He is also survived by his brothers Joe, Richard, and Roy.
Samuel is preceded in death by his parents Joe Van and Sarah Frances Seagraves and his brothers Howard and Dudley Wayne.
