Sharon Simmons Gilbreath was born February 1, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Buford Simmons and the late Jeannine Delores Robinson. She was the 4 th of five children to her mother and father. She fell asleep in death on Sunday, June 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by the late: Buford Simmons Jr. (infant brother), Stanford “Bubba” Simmons (brother), Nellie Simmons Johnson (Aunt), and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

She attended school at College Hill, Carver Smith, and graduated Columbia Central in 1969. She worked as a telephone operator for BellSouth in Nashville, TN. She was employed as a bank teller at First Federal downtown Columbia, TN. She later acquired a diploma at Deltak Training Corporation in Business Management and applied those skills to office administration at Occidental Chemicals in Columbia, TN. Upon severance from Occidental Chemicals, she accepted the paid opportunity to further her education and career options by attending school for nursing at Pulaski State Area Vocational-Technical School. After much hard-work and dedication, Sharon graduated at the top of her class, there receiving her Licensed Practical Nurse degree. Her nursing career encompassed employment at Maury Regional Hospital, Superior Home Health, and Fressenius.

Left to cherish her memories: Two Daughters: Shantria Patrice Cathey, Shari Marie (Rylan) Towns II, Five Grandchildren: Tyler Ashton Harrison, Austin Blake Cathey, Kyle Fredrick Towns III, Weston Grant Towns, and Imari Olivia Towns, Three Siblings: Carol Lou Parks , Gail (Alec) Childress, Aleta Porter, One Aunt: Clara (Alex) Harwell, Five Nieces: TaKarra Simmons, Mona and Nona Lindsay, Hillary Parks, Natalie Love, Three Nephews: Jacques Miller, Nathaniel Love, Justin Love, Cousins:  Clarie Givens, Doug (Johnetta) Simmons, David Simmons, Delphine (Steve) Beasley, Devoted Friends: Michelle Secrest, Patrina Gable, And a host of other relatives, friends, and acquaintances.

A memorial service will be held July 17, 2021 with immediate family. A virtual link will be made available for others.
