Sherry Donita Brown

June 14, 1953 — April 28, 2023

Sherry Donita Brown, age 69, a resident of Lawrenceburg, passed away Friday evening, April 28, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health System.

Born on June 14, 1953, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, Sherry was the daughter of the late Virgil Douglas McCord and the late Mary Jean Gower McCord. She worked as a nurse in multiple healthcare settings over the course of her career, the last being, a Director of Nursing at long term care. She was loved by many residents and staff. Sherry always had a special love for cats. Her most favorite was Bruce with honorable mentions to Hank, Rex, and Misty. She enjoyed flowers and had many flowerbeds that she consistently enjoyed working in and seeing what new would bloom each season. A great sense of humor, Sherry loved to cut up with others, and was always honest, sometimes good and bad. People were always drawn to her and her humorous personality. Sherry was a people person who was always quick to give a compliment and enjoyed conversation.

Above all, Sherry loved her grandchildren. Some of their fondest memories of her include: the big breakfast she often cooked for them on Saturday morning, her and Tony waiting for them to get off the school bus, playing together with the farm animals, and spoiling them unconditionally.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Craig) Brown of Lawrenceburg, son, Adam (Kristy) McMullin of Lawrenceburg, brothers, Randy McCord, Mike (Bert) McCord, sister, Donna (Robert) Garner, and grandchildren, Riley, Haley, and Brady Brown, Aiden, Ansley, and Angela McMullin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Anthony “Tony” Brown (Brown Painting Company), and the father of her children, Donnie Ray McMullin.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hospice Compassus and to the staff at Keestone for their exceptional care and loved shown towards Sherry, especially Melanie Staggs where she was treated like she was their mother, sister, and most of all, FRIEND. Thank you to the staff at STRHS- Lawrenceburg for always going above and beyond, being so personable, and treating her like she was their own mother.

When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not here to see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears of me. I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today. While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you. And each time you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too. When tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.

Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.
