Larry Steven “Steve” Massey, age 66, husband of Susan Massey and a resident of Fayetteville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at his residence. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 3, 1957, Steve was the son of Joyce Sanders Massey and the late Larry Massey.
Steve devoted much of his life to mentoring and coaching youth in softball and baseball, leaving an indelible impact on countless young lives. His dedication extended to serving as an assistant high school softball coach alongside his daughter. A passionate martial artist, Steve held a 2nd degree black belt in Isshin-RYU, inspiring others through his discipline and skill.
Above all, Steve cherished his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather. Known for his mischievous sense of humor, Steve was renowned as quite the prankster. His playful spirit endeared him to friends and family alike, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured. Steve served as a reserve deputy with the Maury County Sheriff’s Department, demonstrating his commitment to serving and protecting his community. He had a servant's heart and his Christian faith guided him in his interactions with others.
In addition to his wife and mother, Steve is survived by his son, Steven (Amanda) Massey of Lenoir, North Carolina; a daughter, Melissa (David) Good, of Fayetteville; sister, Vicki Massey of Murfreesboro; and grandchildren, Eli Dunn, J.J. McGee, Jude Massey, D.C. Good, Lyrik Massey, Gracie Good, and Angel Poole.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beth Massey.
