Sybil Kay Gary

Sybil Kay Gary, age 55, a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Thomas, pastor of Faith United Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Maury Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on September 4, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois, Sybil was the daughter of the late Albert Gary, Sr., and the late Bertha Thomasina Holliman Gary. She was a graduate of George Westinghouse High School in Chicago, Illinois and was attending Columbia State Community College in Columbia, Tennessee. She worked several years in assembly for Ryder System, Inc. She previously liked reading and gardening. Sybil enjoyed cooking and spending time with her Family and friends. She was a free-spirited person who loved to laugh and have a good time.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharell Gary of Huntsville, AL; siblings: Sharon Battle of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Albert (Dawn) Gary, Jr. of Bollingbrook, IL, Patricia Smith of Chicago, IL, Alan (Teresa) Gary of Columbia, TN, Alfred (Connie) Gary of Illinois; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Gary, Michael Battle, Albert Battle, Laron Smith, Keontray Armstrong, and Jay Armstrong. Flower girls will include Cherise Lee, Latrice Smith, Lakisha Gary, Sherri Dail-Edwards, Penny Webster, and Levette Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will include Albert Gary, Jr., Alan Gary, Keventris Webster.
