Thelma Carol Herndon

Thelma Carol Herndon, age 78, a resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Bethany, Oklahoma and Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Rose Hill Cemetery with Pastor John B. Johnson officiating. Thelma was excited to be going to see her Lord. She wanted to have a celebration and requested that no one wear black. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on May 22, 1945, in Beaver, Oklahoma, Thelma was the daughter of the late James Thomas Ford and the late Roma Lucile Vaughn Ford. She was previously a member of West 7th Street Church of Christ in Columbia and Bethany First Assembly of God in Bethany, Oklahoma. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing Bingo, and crocheting. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters, Ethel “Louise” Gregg of Carrboro, NC, Katherine McGaw (Chuck Rome) of Myrtle Beach, SC, former son in law, Mark Hamilton, grandchildren, Jimmy McGaw, Megan Hamilton (Shay Piper), Cody McGaw (Jennifer Gac), Violet Hamilton (Jessie Gingerich), great grandchildren, Jamie McGaw, Alex McGaw, and Marcus Hamilton, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Gregg, second husband, Bill D. Herndon, sister, Roma Jean Garner, and son in law, Tony L McGaw.
