Tonya Holmes

Tonya Patrice Holmes, age 50, resident of Lavergne, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Stonecrest Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Elder Teresa Crosby officiating. The family will also visit with friends on Monday from 5:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Tonya was born on August 21, 1974, in Columbia, Tennessee, and was the daughter of the late James M. Holmes and the late Barbara Ann Goodrum Holmes. She earned a master’s degree in business administration at Bethel University and had a remarkable talent for technology, excelling in computer programs and systems. A gifted cook, she found joy in preparing a variety of dishes for those she loved. She also enjoyed watching television shows and movies, had a witty personality, and was an avid reader. Tonya also enjoyed traveling and liked doing her makeup. Above all, Tonya was devoted to her family, especially her nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her soul mate, Kenneth Alderson; daughters, Kenia Alderson (Marquis Hampton) and Aniyah Alderson; brother, Reginald (Sharon) Holmes; sister, Teresa (Carl) Crosby; granddaughter, Kelaia Hampton; aunts, Artie Goodrum, Christeen (Andrew) Shelton, and Brenda Goodrum; nieces, Alicia Holmes, Chandra Crosby, Lacretia (Jeff) Crosby-Payne, and Crystal Holmes; nephews, Carlos Crosby and Ian Crosby; great-nieces, Ze’Kiyah Armstrong, Keelie Holmes, Skylar Payne, and Yorianna Payne; devoted cousin and friend, Rosalyn “Roz” Goodrum; and a host of cousins and devoted friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, JC Goodrum and Annie Mai Goodrum, and her siblings, Barbara Holmes and Beverly K. Holmes.
