Mr. Vernon Eugene Tomlin, Sr., age 78, husband of Zada Thompson Tomlin, and a resident of Lewisburg, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center just four days short of his 60 th wedding anniversary.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 7PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Murray Culberson officiating. A visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 5-7PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on July 27, 1940 in Maury County, Vernon was the son of the late Leon Tomlin and the late Margie Brown Tomlin. He worked as a foreman for Consolidated Aluminum for many years and later worked in maintenance for Saddle Creek Golf Course in Lewisburg. He and his wife, Zada, owned Variety Mart, a used furniture store in Lewisburg for several years. Vernon enjoyed fishing, doing yard work, planting flowers, and playing cards.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons: Vernon Eugene Tomlin, Jr. of Lewisburg, John (Brenda Roberts) Tomlin of Mt. Pleasant, James Tomlin of Nashville; brother: Joe (Barbara) Tomlin of Lawrenceburg; sisters: Mildred Lackey of Columbia, Myrtle Ann Fitzgerald of Williamsport; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son: Bobby Ray Tomlin; and brothers: Ray Tomlin and Thomas Tomlin.
